Here in Scoil Mhuire we are proud to be an Active School! We are on a mission to earn our 2nd Active School flag. We have been working very hard this year and last year and have had lots of fun along the way! The Active school Flag  is a Department of Education and Skills Initiative  supported by Healthy Ireland, which aims to get schools more active, more often. ASF schools promote inclusive physical activity throughout the school day and work in partnerships with others to promote a physically active school community.

We are lucky to have coaches from Ballyboden Wanderers GAA club and Parkvale FC who come into our school weekly to play games with the children. We had a great time during Active School week! We kicked it off with the launch of our new Active Walkway. Mayor of South County Dublin, Emma Murphy popped into our Active Assembly to cut the ribbon for us! All classes got to use the walkway for the first time. We organised a sponsored walk in our local park, St. Enda's, and raised money for our school.  We had a local Zumba teacher, Audrey Kelly, spend the day with us teaching Zumba classes to students and parents! We had a Music in the yard and the Dance Leaders led all the children and teachers in some brilliant dancing.

In the spring of 2023 our whole school took part in the Run Around Ireland Challenge! We ran laps of our yard and added up all of our laps until we had run the equivalent distance to many exciting landmarks in Ireland, such a Croagh Patrick, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and Devenish Island.
